Prototype Demos

Playdreamer is based on the research ideas from Utopia. These demos where showcased at the Serious Games Summit 2007 in San Francisco.

IMPORTANT: These demos are not complete and hence, not fully functional. They where developed just for research purposes. You may redistribute them always acknowledging the author. No commercial purposes are permited.

Prototypes Source Code

You can download the source code of the presented prototypes to either evolve the development of these, use in your own projects or use in the development of Playdreamer.

The code was developed using Adobe Flash 8 and Microsoft Visual Basic 6 to store information in a local PC with Windows XP. The program uses XML files to store information which I recommend investigating them and playing with the variables inside them to understand how the program works.

IMPORTANT: The code is protected under a Creative Commons license. You may use this code always acknowledging the author and without commercial purposes. Please contact me if you're interested in a commercial development with this code (I'm very open).

NOTE: Unfortunately, this code was never intended to be open source and it was aimed to create fast prototypes. This means that it may get to be quite hard to understand it at a beginning, it does not use Object Oriented Design and I'm not a professional programmer, so you may find plenty of silly bugs and wrong techniques. If you're still curious, feel free to mail me if you have doubts or questions.

Playdreamer Open Source

Playdreamer is a new development based on the prototypes available above. It will be an open source development that will use Adobe Flex 2 as a development tool.

I recommend suscribing to the GamesAreArt.com RSS feed to get any news related to this tool.
